Moxibustion
Warming therapy using burning mugwort to nourish and heal

The Fire That Heals
Moxibustion (艾灸) is a classical TCM therapy that uses the burning of dried mugwort (艾, Artemisia argyi) to deliver therapeutic warmth and herbal properties to acupuncture points. For over 2,500 years, moxibustion has been used when warming and nourishing is needed — for cold conditions, deficiency, pain, and even to correct breech presentation in pregnancy.

Moxibustion Techniques
• **Indirect Moxa** — moxa stick held 1–2 inches above the skin, providing gentle warmth • **Moxa on Needle** — moxa attached to acupuncture needle, warming the point through the needle • **Direct Moxa** — tiny rice-grain sized cones placed on the skin with a protective layer • **Moxa Box** — a box containing burning moxa placed over larger areas like the abdomen or lower back You'll feel a pleasant, radiating warmth — like sunlight deep in your bones. Many patients describe moxibustion as one of the most comforting treatments they've ever experienced.
